KIM SMITH’S DEBUT SINGLE THUNDER RUN DELIVERS RAW, ADDICTIVE, HARD ROCKSHOWCASING HER TRADEMARK HUSKY VOCALS AND CONFIRMING HER STATUS AS BIKER ROCK ICON.
Kim has picked up a large fan base in the biker rock scene over her 10 plus years as a musician in the alternative, hard rock genre.
A prolific song writer, she has seen her ups and downs on her journey towards becoming a successful, independent musician.
”It’s been a long road. I had an originals band that played all over Sydney and Newcastle but it’s very hard for original artists. You have to stay positive and believe in your music.” says Kim. “It feels like it’s taken forever but to finally have the opportunity to release my own music has been well worth the wait. I’m incredibly proud of the results.”
Her raw sound and husky vocals have elicited comparisons to artists including Melissa Etheridge, Joan Jett, ChrissieAmphlett, Patti Smith and Marianne Faithful.
THUNDER RUN, the debut single from Kim Smith and from the forthcoming EP of the same name, was written as a tribute to a close friend.
“My friend Dale was like family to me and sadly he passed away in 2011” says Kim.
Describing the song as a typical rock song with a big bottom end like a Harley, Kim was able to rally Dale’s friends and family together to make a music video clip for Thunder Run.
“Dale’s mother had cancer and not long left to live, so Dale’s friends and I pulled together to make the clip. Dale’s mother was in the clip, along with Dale’s brothers and she was able to see the video before she also sadly passed away”.
THUNDER RUN was recorded and mixed at MusicPro studios by producer Paul-I andmastered at Abbey Road Studios in London. The music video clip for the single was filmed at the Catherine Hill Bay Hotel, directed by Shaun-Anthony Robinson and produced by Jason “Kaos” Hodge. KIM SMITH SHORT BIO
Kim Smith is a prolific songwriter based on the Central Coast of NSW, Australia.
As a youth Kim travelled a great deal and her lifelong passion of writing and performing music began as a self-taught teenager. Honing and perfecting her craft over the years to be the standout singer, songwriter and guitarist she is today. Kim’s lyrics are taken directly from life experiences, of which many can relate.
Kim has a raw rock sound unlike no other and has been compared to a female version of AC/DC with her voice a hybrid of Melissa Etheridge, Joan Jett, Chrissy Amphlett, Patti Smith and Marianne Faithful. Her music is sure to get you rocking.
Coupled with her catchy hooks, husky voice and rockin’ edge you are bound to become addicted!
